Event in Maringá, Paraná, discussed people management and presented practical solutions in Shared Services

Executives from some of Brazil's largest companies, across a wide range of sectors, visited Vitru Educação last Thursday (September 11th) in Maringá, Paraná, to learn about the structure of Vitru Educação. The meeting, held at UniCesumar's headquarters, is part of a series of regular meetings by Grupo Somar, an initiative that brings together major Brazilian companies to share experiences and solutions in Shared Services Centers (SSCs). The central theme of the event was People Management, addressed through panels, case presentations, and debates.

Somar is one of the six groups coordinated by the Institute of Management Engineering (IEG) and brings together companies from different sectors to promote networking, benchmarking, and strategic discussions about SSCs. Currently, more than 130 companies participate in this network, which impacts an ecosystem of approximately 35,000 professionals across the country. Participating organizations include Petrobras, Heineken, Natura, and Ambev. The Shared Services Center (SSC) is a management model in which an organization's administrative processes are centralized in a single structure. This allows for standardization of routines, reduction of costs, and increase of efficiency, in addition to facilitating the adoption of technologies and innovation in management.

Meeting discusses challenges

The program included a reception and tour of Vitru's SSC, as well as rounds of discussions, presentations of case studies, and networking opportunities. Highlights included Petrobras' participation with a management case study, presentations by candidate companies, and the exchange of experiences on challenges such as talent attraction and retention, automation, and productivity, introduced by Vitru's Executive Director of Experience and Retention, Chrystiano Mincoff.

"People management is one of the biggest challenges for companies today. Talent retention depends on factors such as recognition, development opportunities, and an environment that values the employee's purpose. It is up to the company to create conditions that foster this retention, strengthening bonds that go beyond the employment contract," he emphasizes. By joining Grupo Somar, Vitru reaffirms its position as an innovative company, building bridges with institutions across various sectors and contributing to the advancement of corporate management in the country. "Being part of Grupo Somar connects us with some of the largest companies in the country in an environment of continuous learning. The exchange of experiences strengthens our CSC and helps us develop more efficient solutions, which directly impact the experience of our students and partners," says Chrystiano.

Experiences that Transform

Taís Nascimento, a partner at IEG, the company that organizes Grupo Somar, explains that the purpose of the meetings is to exchange information among participants. "The CSC groups we coordinate were created with the aim of creating a collective learning network. Each meeting expands the sector's capacity to build more agile and strategic solutions."

For Sarah Bezerra, CSC Governance Executive at Equatorial Energia and president of Grupo Somar, these meetings are extremely important. "The Somar Group is a space where companies with similar challenges can openly discuss their actions in the SSC sector. This exchange of experiences provides greater confidence in decision-making."

Vanessa Nascimento, Petrobras' Continuous Improvement Coordinator and a member of the group, says that participating in the group allows her to bring practices that have already been tested by other organizations into the company. "At the same time, we can share lessons learned from our SSC journey. This collaborative dynamic is what makes Somar so relevant."
